Jeff & Jessie

IMG_0527 copyJeff and Jessie or Jean Francois and Yesenia , I’ve been shooting Jeff for 20 years. We were room mates and he was my “Muse” for much of that time. We celebrated this weekend with a photo shoot in the same location as one of our first shoots and it was around the same of year. Jessie on the other hand has just recently come to me and we’ve been shooting for about 4 or 5 months. The first time I shot with her I thought that I’d love to get her together with Jeff, my wish came true! The results of this historical, yes, historical shoot is in the Photography section under FASHION. There are only 13 photos but we took about 900 images and I could have shot more! Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think.

Always,

Lee

Nick

IMG_0013 copyI’ve currently been working with a young, aspiring model by the name of Nick. He’s good. He has good looks, right height and has a model body. What Nick lacks is experience and maybe confidence. I wouldn’t say he’s a “natural” but the camera does love him. I really like working with “fledgling”models just starting out and green. I enjoy the process of helping them “find their light” and learning how to “smieze” for those of you who what America’s Next Top Model. I actually suggest to new models to watch this show only for the photo shoots and the elimination, honestly you can say what you want about Trya but she knows the business of modeling and I think her modeling show is really helpful to those model want to be’s , giving them a chance AND teaching “models” who watch the show. I tell Nick ” Watch how they use their bodies and use the props given. ” I noticed in our last shoot this weekend that he has been and made several references to the show and things they have done on it. I’m posting 4 pictures under the Photography section under

Tebow and Cooper…

Tebow and Cooper copywhat a couple…of football players! Tebow tossing it and Cooper catching it! I have to admit I’m not the biggest Florida fan but watching these two guys go at it is really something. I don’t usually do a sports related art piece basically because I’m not a big college football fan BUT Tim Tebow and Riley Cooper are something to watch. Knowing they’ve been roommates for years and have that certain “something” is the stuff legends are made of! And as anyone can see Florida is doing well with these two together. Whether it’s just that they know each other so well or the shear physicality of man on man action… on the field, Tebow and Cooper are going down in the history books as a match made in (college football) heaven! Hope you enjoy the piece and the “tounge and cheek” .

Done!

Sidney copySindeyThis is the finish commission piece for my buddy Ralph of his newly rescued dog, Sidney. The piece took longer than I had wanted it to even though it’s only 9″x9″. I just had a been busy with life, work, photo shoots and other things so it sat on my art table a for a couple of weeks. I usually try tofinish them sooner than that, especially commission pieces. On avergage if I have a good picture to work from and a piece this size could take just a couple of evenings to do. Better to take my time on it though than rush through it and the client not be satisfied with it! Let me know what you think.

Nick

I do photography on the side. It was a minor in college and at one point in my career I thought I’d do it full time. It’s tough work but I really love it and with advent of digital photography and Photo Shop it’s really taken on a whole new art form! ( I LOVE Photo Shop) My favorite thing todo is to find an “undiscovered”. Someone who has never modeled before and put the in front of my camera. Such is the case with Nick. He is young and still has a lot to learn but I see the potential there. I give him and some other models I work with who are just starting out the advice/homework to watch America’s Next Top Model because they have real life photo shoots and Tyra teaches these model hopefuls how to be a model, literally explaining the process and how to use their bodies and faces to make a great picture. It’s also about walking onto set/location and being able to bring something special or different for the camera and the photographer. It’s a tough business and I’m glad I’m BEHIND the camera! This picture to the left was taken this weekend at a location I love, a racket ball court. I like using unusual locations for the back drop to a shoot. Something unexpected.

How it all Begins….

When I start a pet portrait, I sketch in the image while looking at a reference photo. A lot of people ask me if I come to their house and me if I draw the pet while I’m there. NO! This is almost impossible for me. Maybe an artist with a great deal of patience but that’s not me! I like to work from a good photo representation of the pet . I then start by laying in the color , now with chalk pastels I have found it easy to work from lightest to darkest, laying in the white first and adding as I go. This piece here is one I just began a few days ago, I’ll keep posting as I go to let you see the progress. The photo is on the right.unfinished dog-10072009_2

New and Improved Website!

NEW ART PIECE

“Llama Lovin’ ” This is a piece I did Oct. 6 2009. I drew this shape of the llamas on my art table. I don’t know where I thought of it or how it came to me but there it is and now there’s a finished piece. I’ll place this piece in my “OTHER ANIMALS” category. Please feel free to leave your comments .
